Thorough Periodic Inspection of Aerial Work Platforms
The thorough periodic inspection is performed approximately every 10 years. Its goal is to conduct an in-depth check of all critical components and structures of the aerial work platform, for example, the internal structures and welds of telescopic booms.
This thorough periodic inspection is particularly important for aerial platforms with telescopic booms, as internal structures and welds cannot be reliably inspected without disassembling the equipment. The lift is fully dismantled to allow careful inspection and replacement of worn parts as needed.
The thorough inspection helps detect fatigue-related damage early and ensures the lift remains safe for long-term use. Parts recommended for replacement approximately every ten years by the manufacturer are replaced during the inspection.
Key procedures in thorough periodic inspections of telescopic boom lifts include:
- Disassembly and separation of boom parts
- Inspection of weld seams internally
- Assessment of internal structures and wear of booms
- Detailed examination of wear parts and seals
- Inspection and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Thorough inspection of support structures and attachments
- Replacement of parts according to manufacturer’s instructions
- Reassembly and functional testing
- Comprehensive safety evaluation to ensure operational reliability
When is the thorough inspection performed?
Usually, every 10 years or earlier if operating conditions or inspection findings require it.
