Periodic Inspection of Aerial Work Platforms

The periodic inspection is performed every 12 months according to the Finnish Government Decree No. 403/2008 “On the Safe Use and Inspection of Work Equipment,” Section 34. The inspection evaluates the overall safety of the equipment during operation.

What is checked during the periodic inspection?

Documents and markings – instruction manual and storage location, type plate, load plate, and work area diagram are present and readable.

Safety devices and functionality – spirit level, emergency stop, backup lowering system, lifting edge guard, support release lock, control devices, and load monitoring are checked.

Reach and limiters – the device stops at the designated reach limit and functions are verified.

Structures and condition – stabilizers, frame, boom, work cage operation, fall protection attachments, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and lighting are inspected.

Electrical equipment and test runs – 230V residual current devices, batteries, controls are tested, and test operation and loading are performed.

Thorough periodic inspection – when last performed and the date for the next inspection are recorded.

At the end, any deficiencies and remarks with repair deadlines are documented. The customer receives an inspection report.
